What if a birthmother requested that the couple be from a diffrent state?

  2. In an adoption EVERYTHING is up to the Birthmother, and it's important to remember that. She can chose any family, with any religion, from any state, ect.

  3. I think that would be fine. I don't see why they would not honor that. But in time to come, the couple may move with jobs or peronsal reasons and may end up in your state, but at least you would not know that.

  5. Many of the birthmothers i've been in contact with have specifically wanted an adoptive couple in another state.  With all the sites on the internet of homestudy approved couples - a birthmother can come in contact with a couple in any state that she wants.

  6. It is their choice if it is an open adoption. They get to choose from and interview couples that they think will provide the best home for their child, and they can request that couples from other states adopt their baby.
