Because, honestly, I heard it was impossible. But, we have had some pretty intense warnings lately. Would it be able to get out? Or would it follow along the river? I keep worrying about them constantly.

  1. it would dessipate very rapidly and die down due to friction with land mass and wind.

    bye

  2. I hope this helps. I got this from the National Severe Storm Laboratory site...kind of explains what you are asking I think.

"A gully could actually make a tornado more intense, just as an ice skater spins faster when he or she stands up tall and stretches their arms up straight over their heads. Every major river east of the Rockies has been crossed by a significant tornado, and high elevations in the Appalachians, Rockies, and Sierra Nevada have all experienced tornadoes. A violent tornado crossed the Continental Divide in Yellowstone National Park."

So basically a tornado can form anywhere and in a valley or gully it could become more intense...Check out their website it's very informational =)
