  1. Mothers lie about paternity NOW, on birth certificates. Obviously, it would have been just as possible in 1966. Then or now.. who mom says is the father, will normally be put on there, and without dna testing (other testing back then), it won't be clear to anyone.  That has nothing to do with her being admitted to the hospital.

Having your birth certificate is not explaining what you need. Is the name on the certificate different from what you knew/ were raised with? She may have "changed" it informally, by using a name, maybe a stepfather. She could have had the certificate amended from the original name. Considering what things were like in 1966.. very possible that if she had more than one possible father.. she may not HAVE KNOWN for sure, who the father was.

Whole bunch of different things are possible.  You have to start with someone who is willing to talk to you, and tell you the truth. That could include mom, or maybe a sister/brother, etc.

You have to have a REASONABLE name (likely the father), find him, and have dna testing to be sure.

  2. if you are looking for a birth record, contact the local vital statistics department.Hospitals don't normally keep records of births, just patients.
