  1. You have to fill out a corrections FAFSA to a processed application... The option should be on the main page of the FAFSA site.

  2. You should be able to edit, if not call your school that you're applying it for and they can correct it

  3. It is likely saying its too little because you will also have to correct the question about how much their tax liability was as well.

(Your dads AGI is directly related to how much he paid in taxes, if you correct one you should also correct the other).

Do  yourself a favor and don't take your moms word for it on the answer to this question either.  On the fafsa application it will tell you what line number on the tax forms to look at.  If you ask your mom, she'll probably tell you the wrong amount (how much they paid in taxes is NOT the amount they had to pay to the IRS when they did thier tax forms).  Have the forms in front of you and look at the line number yourself.

Also, the fafsa doesn't want to know you dads AGI was 58,000 or even 30,000.  It wants the EXACT amount, like 30,351   Anything other than that is a mistake.  If the website won't let you fix it, take your parents tax forms and W2s to the schools fin aid office and they will help you fix it.

  4. It usually lets you make changes to your FAFSA after it's processed.

Just wait awhile and then go back to the fafsa site and change it.
