  1. Well, you have three of the TOP Aviaition people telling you not a very good idea, so I would take their advice. Only add to it that the FAA would be all over your construction like a rag, methods, assembly, etc.etc.

Final cost to you... All you own plus one or two of your  limbs.

  2. If it was made of wood, it wouldn't be ultralight.

  3. Bit, you took the words right out of my mouth.

Why not just build it out of granite?

  4. What about it?

  5. Don't expect me to fly it.  And I'd really think about it.  Might just be a money pit...

  6. It would be the slowest jet in history. The wood would never hold up to the drag of a high speed aircraft. Why would you want to? Hey! Lets make a bomb out of popcorn!

  7. You get to sit and look at it, because it would never fly, and it would never be certified as an experimental aircraft.

    Have fun.

  8. Well, Back in WW2, the British had a fantastic wooden aircraft called the Mosquito. It was the fastest bomber of the war, and almost impossible to intercept.

You could build one out of wood, but you would need to learn alot about how to create plywood, because you would have to make your own custom plywood parts with as few imperfections as possible, and with the best resin for the job.

Im sure that if you are really interested, you could find all the people you need to make it possible. You just have to bring the right people together.

  9. There are plenty of wood kits out there so why not.
