What if i like the new guy at school?(how should i approach this person, and handle this situation below)?

i noticed him on the first day of school he was very quiet and didn't say much to anyone he just worked...then the second day i introduced myself to him....he asked me a few questions and i did the same....fourth day of school i asked for his number and i think he wrote down mine and he said 'i can call u tonight if ur not too busy' later i found out his cell phone was canceled b/c the phone company charged his phone for 2000 dollars....so i asked if he really had my number ...and he looked confused then asked your number ends in a nine right( this led me to think he had more than one girls number i dont know why) and he said ' dont worry ill give you a call....

He might have been kidding about the "your number ends in a 9 right?" part. But maybe he was serious because other girls might have given him their numbers, but he said "Don't worry I'll call YOU" emphasize on the 'you' because maybe he's not going to phone the other girls, he's just going to call you. So I think he thinks you're cool and wants to get to know you better. Maybe from their he'll start liking you as more then a friend
