What if i take tylenol Pm?

Question

What if i take the PILL Tylenol pm even when I'm not sick or feeling any pain?Do you think that their would be side-effects?Who has tried this before and if so...tell me how it worked out for you :)

i have taken tylenol PM on many occasions even when i dont have pain just cause i have trouble sleeping the only thing bad ive noticed with it is you feel kinda grougy the next day even if you only take 1, unisom melt aways are good for helping you snooze but you still feel a little tired the next day also so i would just make sure you can sleep like @ 8 hours or so if you take any sleeping pills.

Tylenol PM is basically the generic form of Benadryl (with regular Tylenol mixed in).  Benadryl--main side effect makes you very sleepy, but also helps with inflammation/allergic reactions. Tylenol, as long as you take it the way it's supposed to, is safe (pregnant women can take Tylenol for pain, if that says anything).  Yes, chronic Tylenol usage can cause liver damage--but once in a while should be fine.  You are better off, like the person above me said, to take Benadryl on it's own.

Take as directed, try to take it only when you absolutely need it and you will be fine.

i wouldn't take it if your taking it for pain you don't have. but if your taking it as a sleep aid i would suggest taking about 3 -5 pills if you want to get the drowsiness effect.

Don't take more than suggested, however, you will need to alot at least 8 hours of sleep or you will wake up and feel almost drunk. If you dont have pain or you dont have problems sleeping don't take it, or I would say "pill head".

If you are not taking it for pain then do not take it. Why put your liver through the process of filtering out the acetominophen if you don't need to?

Check the active ingredient that is in Tyl PM that causes the drowsiness...it's Diphenhydramine..the same active ingredient that is in Benadryl. Save yourself a few bucks(it will save your liver too) and just buy some generic over-the-counter sleep aid(it will contain the same thing) or some generic Benadryl.

I have used both Tylenol PM and Diphenhydramine, seperately, for pain and for the sleep aid. Both will leave you groggy in the morning. Ever seen that commercial for another allergy med that talks about not making a person feel like they are in a fog, that's what Diphenhydramine/Benadryl does.

Added advice, never take more then the recommended dose on the package unless given an ok by a medical doctor. Even if you are young, you never know what may happen in the future and you only get one liver. Taking more pain meds does not equal more relief. Dosage is based on weight, not the amount of pain.

Chronic acetaminophen abuse results in liver damage and that can be fatal.  That's the primary ingredient in Tylenol.  Why would you take it?  

If you can't get to sleep, just take some Benedryl.  That's all that's in Tylenol PM anyway, acetaminophen and the generic ingredient in Benedryl.

Save your body for better things.
