let say I'm 22 and i want to be a police officer but i jot arrested and i shoplifted when i was 12 that's about 9 years ago will the department exsept me

  1.      Most departments,at least here in Canada,especially with a polygraph,will expect any criminal activity,like you have mentioned,to be at least 3 years old or better.I would say that you're good to go.If that is the worst thing you have done,don't even sweat it.

  3. Don't worry about it. You will not be disqualified for a misdemeanor when you were 12 years old.  

  4. Ask them if this would be a problem before you apply.

Best option is just to contact the department your looking to apply with and ask them for the qualifications and disqualifications to be accepted as a cadet or get on there website you can usually find that info there. The age limit you say when you were arrested was as a minor and there has been a 10 year span you should be ok. Good Luck

  6. you still can apply there are cops that have been arrested for farther worse crimes and are on the force. Your going to have to explain yourself to the psychologist but you should most likely get it. You should check out this source.
