Scotland or Wales wanted independence from England, and raised a rukus, with some protests and the occasional riot. Do you think England would let them go to save face and ensure the Olympics went on without controversy?

  1. They would be free to voice their feelings without fear of torture, imprisonment or death!

  2. The English don't care, they can have their Independence tomorrow,

It's the Government, ( headed by a Scot, Gordon Brown ) who don't want Scotland to get it's Independence,

If the Scottish people REALLY want Independence, they should vote SNP, it's up to the Scottish people not the English, don't blame us.

  3. I see your point!

Anyway, I'd let em go tomorrow - The Scots would end up paying for their prescriptions then!

  4. We can live in hope.

  5. Let them have it I say

  6. Hard to answer this one. Personally i would think the government would try to crawl a wee bit to Scotland and Wales, (right up their bums.....i'm a Scot by the way) maybe give them a few incentives to stay united, but really try to avoid riots. But i don't think it is going to come to that. Let the MPs battle it out.

I dont see why people have a problem with us and Wales wanting our independance. If you look at it from our point of view, we have been "under" England for years. We are counties in our own merits and with the greatest respect the English seem to think we would never survive on our own. Well Eire managed it and are thriving well. I think a lot of it is to do with the fact that so far we are doing well with a Scottish parlaiment. Our prescriptions are already down to £5 and that is a saving of nearly £2 on each one. Within four years they should be free. And why not? The SNP have already realised that  some people are not getting their medicine because they can't afford the prescription charges. Why do the English lambast us for that? Surely if they want us to be "with them", they should stop slagging us off.

this is why we most likely want our independence because of all the bickering between our two countries with England always thinking they are superior to Scotland and Wales.

I'm not anti English, I have lot of relatives in Lancashire and go visit them and their lovely friends.

I just think we want eqality and not always have to crawl to England for what we want. Be happy for us and there is more a chance that once or if we get our independance then relations between the countries will stay good. We dont want to be your enemies as we have many centuries of friendship between us. We just want to stand on our own two feet.

Even mothers have to let their kids go sometime.

Aurora.....you've never heard of oil then have you?

I'm reading some of the answers now, and my God no wonder we want our independance. Look at the way you are talking about us?  It's as if you hate us. If you do then stop putting up such a fight to let us go.

Don't you think this is playing right into the hands of the bl**dy fundamentalists? they watch us bickering when we should be staying strong. we can be united in fighting the terrorists AND have our independance..

And you all wonder why we don't support English football teams. You bring it all on yourselves with your superior attitudes.

And i'm not talking about all the English. The majority of them are lovely people. But you lot, like the fundamentalsit muslims are giving the rest of them a bad name, and turning lots of Scottish and Welsh people against them. This kind of attitude makes us dig our heels in deeper.

And why all the time do you push the fact that Gogs Brown is a Scot?  Tony Blair was English and he did just as bad a job. So it's ok for an English PM to ruin the country but if it is a Scots one then its even worse. I don't like him either but I didn't go around saying "that bl**dy English PM Tony Blaire"

He's PM and his nationality should not come into it.

Micheal, we have plenty of English people living in Scotland and we don't wish them to be gone back to England. Yes some Scots do, but since when did people ever take note of what the minority think?

Neil T.  Blaire was half English half Irish. Moved to England when he was wee. So he was maybe born in Scotland but did not live there, and has no scottish blood

  7. Oh God I hope so - but please don't have a riot! All you need to do is ask the English public and they'd help you fence off the borders! However, the British Gov might not give way, but riots wouldn't persuade them at all, only the EU can sanction this move.

  8. yup

  9. I say just let them go and fend for themselves!

  10. As far as I am concerned, they can have it tomorrow, but they will have to agree to take back all of their nationals that currently live in England!

That includes ALL of their politicians, and Hew Edwards.

    And no more subsidies!

  11. Scotland or Wales could never be independent.  How could they afford it, they do not have enough of their own revenue without constantly being propped up by the taxpayers of  England?

  12. silly hypotheticals

    next

  13. With this PM?....Of course

  14. Tony BLiar, English - not on your life elsie.19.
