I'm wondering if that impacts the quality at all. Will the player just play out to 900pi then instead?

  1. 900? It should be 720 or 1080

  2. No the player will still play at 1080i, what will happen is the your TV will then scale the image to 900p.

I have to admit though I have never heard of a TV that is 900p (can't be pi, the image is either interlaced or progressive).

But you have the choice of choosing 720p or 1080i in the HD-DVD player and deciding which looks better to you after the TV scales the image to 900p.

  3. from the sounds of it, it seems like your "TV" has a resolution of 1440x900. this is not a broadcast standard and will such take a 1080i or 720p signal and scale it to fit. I always recommend 1080i over 720p but that is a matter of personal preference and can be set yourself. If you can output to 1080p then your HD-DVD player will scale this as well and should give you the best picture possible.

Fool around with it and see what fits you best.
