My guinea pigs cage is pretty spacious but I still let her run around the house for about 45 minutes a day so she can get some exercise...but the problem is she hates going inside. She starts hitting the cage door trying to get out! What should I do?

  1. Put her in the cage or go to your room. The cage is in your room? GOOD STAY THERE

  2. make feeding time cage time, and they should take a liking to the cage

(only feed them in the cage)

  3. How big is the cage? Usually they feel like the cage is their home, where they are safe and have their little bed/hidey house. If they don't want to go back, I'm guessing the cage is probably too small.

check out cavyspirit.com for cage sizes.

  4. The playpen is a really good idea. I used a baby gate and gave my bunny full roam of my bedroom (bunny proofed, of course). And yes, they do make guinea pig size balls.

  5. waterboard it

  6. well they like to run around all the time and the house has many places for him/her to explore unlike the cage so i would try changing the cage layout a bit see if that works if not good luck this is all i could think of my guinea pig did the same thing. but i did this and it seemed to work for a bit. you also need to make sure its cage is clean because it hates the smell of it own oder.

  7. eat it

  8. do not get a ball for your guinea pig. it can break there back because there backs do not bend like those of hamsters. What i recommend is when you put your guinea pig away give it it's favorite treat. My guinea pig will do anything for carrots!

  9. its a ******* guinea pig!!!! it weighs like half a pound. Pick it up and stick it in its cage.

  10. Seems kinda cruel to let your guinea pig run around for 45 minutes for one whole day out of the 24 hours. I feel the pain of your pig, and i dont wonder why it wants out.

  11. Maybe instead of just putting her a cage all of the time you should build some sort of a play pen for her instead of letting her roam free all around your house. That way if she doesn't want to go into her cage after that 45 minutes at least you'll know she's in the play pen and not getting into mischief! Also, I know those hamster balls are pretty sweet you could try that too!, no idea if they make them guinea-pig sized though!

  12. you should put your cage in your room on the floor and put a ramp on the cage door so she can climb out and come back in for food thats what i do for my pigs also my cage is huge how big is yours? You should consider C&C! its really good here ; http://www.guineapigcages.com/

    good luck!!!

  13. Be stern.
