What if my opponent scored wrongly on his card, even when he was told? Instead he won the title for cheating?

After the 18hole, I told my opponent of his strokes. He refuse to accept and insisted on a lower strokes which he marked on his scorecard. When we reached back, I did not protest. As a result his team won the championship. On checking his score I discoved that he had doctored his overall score. I brought this matter to the referee and the organizing committee. I did not expect my opponent to go that far. He was the 2nd worst player in our flight. Is there a rule to DQ him & his team honor?

  1. All tournaments where there are teams involved should have standard rules, one is that you are suppose to use a marker to mark on the score card, and two the ONLY two numbers on the scorecard of any matter are the out and in. They don't look at the total or at the individual holes on the card, they just look at the out and in and add them up. Now if by 'doctored' you mean he marked out something and wrote something else in, then that should HAVE to be initialed by the person in the group that attested to that individual's scorecard. If you DID initial it then it is counted and it's your fault because you should have checked. HOWEVER, if there is no initial then all you would have to do is to get the othere two people in your group to tell the committee of the error, BUT the player in question is the only person who may give permission to change the score. Sorry, doesn't look good. Hope it works out.

  2. Complain to the committee - nobody likes a cheater.

  3. Do you want to be right, or do you want to be happy?
