Ok, so i bought a laptop from rent a center. And it was stolen. Iv been paying it up to this point for all the obvious reasons (they dont give a c**p if i odnt have it, i owe them money). Im about to file bankruptcy due to some credit cards i stupidly got when i was 18, but mainly for hospital bills and such from when i didnt have insurance. I have a lot of health problems..... My question though is, if i file bankruptcy, can i include what i owe the rental center? I know in a normal situation i would just return the item. But thats not possible. Truth is my younger brother stole and sold it. He's family, and unfortuanetly is where he belongs now in juvi. But being family and all i surely couldnt report him. I just couldnt. So can i claim my remaing balance on my bankruptcy? or am i screwed paying on something i dont have?

  1. if your already filing a bankruptcy then i dont see the problem in claiming it. Rent a center sucks by the way. If you have an ATM card you can get a nice computer from QVC or Home shopping network for 700 bucks and they do payment installments without a credit check...sorry for the rant, i just see the rent a center ads in the mail and it disgusts me how they rip people off!, good luck with the bankruptcy i hope it helps things out, atleast im sure you know better this time around.
