What if people weren't afraid of ghosts?

If poltergeists threw things and we threw them back and laughed. If ghosts roamed our houses and we said,"Pull up a chair!" If we just went along with the things they were doing (except for incubus etc.)..If we were just "friends" with them..Do you think they'd get bored and leave on their own? What do you think they would do? Would it at least be better for the people who were being haunted..if they could learn not to be afraid?

  1. It would be; a demon feeds on fear, by fearing it, you're actually making it stronger and more able to hurt you. By laughing at it and, in a sense, doing what Glenda the good witch said to the Wicked witch of the east and simply telling it, "be gone, you have no power here" without actually hurling insults is a really powerful thing. Or so I'm told. lol But I would assume that works for mischievous spirits too.

Well, some of them get really attached to places or people (I have a young man who still comes to visit me on a regular basis). If you don't tell them to go, your house might get full. lol But yeah, I agree... it's much easier if you simply stop being afraid. Cause most people who are "haunted" don't realize that most spirits are there because they're lost, they need help, in some way, in crossing over. So by sitting them down and talking to them, yeah, some of them may very well leave.

  2. I can't ever think of a time when I was afraid of ghosts.  I've always just thought that they are a part of normal life.  What's to be afraid of?  Their dead and can't really do to much other then move some stuff around at best.

  3. Is it not strange that the people that want to see ghosts (such as scientists) or other paranormal events, never do? It is always (to put in a blunt way) the common people that have no science background. Scientists, last time I looked were human beings too.

  4. People HAVE made friends with ghosts before, and they dont get bored and leave because ghosts and spirits dont stay somewere because thier 'bored'. They have a meaning to stay thier one way or another and one reason is NOT boredom.

  5. What people are afraid of is the unknown and death and ghosts fulfill both of those fears.  And since most "hauntings" are just self projections your theory would work.  However, I've seen things that aren't the least bit interested in being friends.

  6. I believe that the reason people are afraid in most situations is because of Hollywood.  I don't necessarily believe the ghosts would get bored and leave.  I have told countless stories of families who have accepted their ghosts and actually "include" them in family gatherings.  The ghosts don't throw things to scare, they throw them to get attention.  Sometimes they need help.  Sometimes they just want you to know they are there.

  7. I'm not the least bit afraid of ghosts or any other supernatural/preternatural thing.  I don't believe in them.  So to help round out your answers here, I can say that a confident disbelief in such things makes them stay away...completely.  They have never dared come near me.  If people want to get rid of ghosts, they should call me.  All I would have to do is walk through their house and the ghosts would be gone!  (Or the residents would be caught in the act of a hoax or self-induced delusion.)

Do you think I could make a lot of money, going around scaring ghosts away like that?

  8. My family is not afraid of ghosts, we have a gathering on the month of july every year and we will eat and drink. They celebrate with us for 15 days and they are back to h**l.

The world is the same with or without ghost.

  9. I have heard hypotheses about ghosts and how they can interact with our physical world.  In order to convey a gentle touch to someone, they must save up energy for a long time, and we're not even talking about throwing something or hurting someone.  If they're that convicted, then the dude probably deserves it.  But, yes, I agree, wage peace, not war (in all situations).

  10. hmm who said I was afraid of them. If you had seen what I have seen you would think I would have been, yet I have always watched and looked on in amazement, not fear.  Heck besides if they are hanging around, I would think a woman would feel more upset, especially if the ghost was a man. Privacy issues and all that! LOL and just think you could take them with you to the superbowl and only have to buy one ticket, now thats my kind of friend, always around and costs you nothing in return.

  11. I think it would be cool!  LOL!  I'd probably haunt them! :)

  12. i would love that.. i am still afraid of them.. just freaked. i think they may stop taunting them if they weren't afraid..

  13. I think it would make it better for some, but what about the crazies, It might make things alot more complicated for them. I think it would be a much more interesting world though, good question.

  14. Are the people afraid of ghosts? What ghosts? Fictitious Ghosts?

  15. I'm confident that ghosts simply do not exist.  So what's there to be afraid of?

What I'm afraid of is people making poor choices with important consequences based on bad information and nonsense.  Now that's really scary!
