Maybe you need to get rid of the weed before the cops find out you have it !

I'm not 100% sure but I would say first the police would come and question you and then if they had enough evidence to say you most likely do have weed on your premises they would request a search warrant. If they couldn't they would just have to wait for another complaint and the process would start again. Then, if they found any, you would be charged accordingly.

the cops need to have enough evidence for a warrant to search your home...
