Question:

What if someone tells you "Mars is Purple"?

Would you accept this as the truth as long as he had 5,000 other people saying this was true? Or would you ask him to present his data to how he came to this conclusion?

If someone said they could predict the future, and they know what the future would be like in 30 years, wouldn't you want to test them by asking them what the future would be in 6 months, 1 year, 5 years, and 10 years, and see the data on how they came to their conclusion?

And shouldn't we be suspicious of their claims if they tell us that they can't provide this information, we should just trust them, but they need our money, and need it now because we have less than 18 months to act least we be turned into cannibals?

How does "Global Warming" differ from Eugenics? Many smart people still believe and there's ongoing research in Eugenics even though over 6 million people died for the cause.

Dare we make the same mistake twice? Or should we demand the proof first?

  1. LOL

    Very good.

And of course, only Dr Jello could come up with such a cogent comparison. Bravo!

  2. No it would be the latter, a coarse analogy would be; all the scientist, and statisticians, formulating a consensus stating it would be safe for me to play in traffic.

Look at this way if we turn into cannibals, there will no longer be a food shortage.

I shy away from Eugenics, but I do know it has made plenty of people do strange things...from monarchs to mad men.

Whats wrong with demanding proof? It may never happen in the sense of a true physical perspective.

  3. I once convinced a teacher that I was invisible and that she could not see me. My class mates went along with the gag, and she began questioning whether If she could see me or not, consensus can be a powerful tool.

  4. No problem as long as belief in a purple mars does not directly lead to mass extinctions, as occurred in past warmings and could occur again with current climate change if enough people delay our response.

Climate Model Links Warmer Temperatures to Permian Extinction

A careful examination of a large number of species in numerous parts of the planet projects that a stunning portion of them will be "committed to extinction" in just 50 years, with only modest global warming (Thomas, 2004).

Comparing people who understand global warming science with n***s seems bizzare and extreme. On the flip side of that coin, what do you think of the people paid to intentionally misleading the public and delay reaction to an impending threat that could kill billions of us?

  5. mars is not purple its brown and coved in chocolte and comes in a little plastic wrapper

  6. No one's telling you you should believe in AGW because scientists believe in it.

And no one's hiding the scientific data from you.

    What a meaningless post.

  7. No, I'd question their reasoning. Things have to make sense to me. If I see or read something that doesn't make sense I poke at it until I have a better understanding of what the other person believes and sees to be true. Say for instense the 5,000 people that seem to truly believe Mars is purple no matter how much I try to explain to them it's a reddish-brown color. Who nows maybe these people are color blind? But some how were never diagnosed with the condition, because they came from a poor family. So when they see it in the sky at night it looks purple to them and not reddish-brown.

I've come full circle with the research I've done and I see a cooling trend on the horizon. I can't say that I'm 100% spot on, since I need a few more years like the Winters we experienced in both the Southern and Northern hemispheres during 2007-2008. So now I'm watching the Southern hemispere to see how it fairs during their Winter that's only a month away.

Oh and I'm still looking for data on how Antarctica did in its Summer season, but I can't find any data at all for 2008.

  8. Ben Stein:

Evolution => Darwinism => Eugenics => World War II => people dying in concentration camps.

I did not know he was a speechwriter for Nixon, until he made the movie.

  9. That would be the global warming crowd that would say the planet is purple..

  10. I would ask them for evidence.

Unfortunately, many people on YA don't care about evidence.  If you tell them that Mars' atmosphere is 60% as dense as the Earth's and this means humans aren't causing global warming, they'll believe you.  If you tell them Mars is purple and this means humans aren't causing global warming, they'll believe you.

Congratulations, you campaign of misinformation has fooled two ignorant people into becoming new members of the denial movement.  If I were you, I doubt I'd be able to live with myself.  But then, I have a conscience.
