so.... i can not use anymore the cage?

can not i do anythng to make it appropriate for my birds?

my aunt painted it because it looks old and she painted it with green...

the paint was enamel.... and before she did the painting , it has already been painted with silver so she painted it to make it look good.... the silver was also enamel..

we live in the Philippines and i have notyet seen any stainless cage so she bought that...

i have been waiting for this one... i do not like the old cage we have because it is bbig and hand made... and location of it is dark..... i bought a smaller to make them see the other parts of the house and play and tame them easier......

cant i just let the cage paint dry or expose it to sun light to make it easier to dry???

that way will they still be poisoned? and would the smell get worse if i expose it ti sun light????

and the bowl has a paint mark just UNDER it... it is not toxic is it??

i really need ur answers! pls help me!

THANKS!!!

  1. you have to check the tin or package the paint came in if it is toxic then remove it immediately.

you should dry it slowly so the pain dose not  crack then it could fall into the water/food bowls.

maybe you can borrow a cage until the pain has dried?

if the paint is under the food bowl then i think they wouldn't be able to get to it.

about the smell if you leave it outside then the air should remove the smell. if you find that any of them become less active or look unwell then take them to the vet immediately.

also put the cage in a shaded area but not in the dark and not directly in the light or they will be unwell

  2. Since we dont know what kind of paint you used we cant answer. Enamel paint comes in acrylic ,.latex , and solvent based paint . Of these the solvent based paint would be most toxic but the others could also contain toxins like lead and zinc. We would probably not be familiar with the brands of paint used in the Phillipines. The time to do your research was before you painted. Much easier to do it right than try to correct potentially lethal mistakes. In my opinion your only recourse  would be to ask the paint manufacturers. Drying in the sun would only help if there were not toxins in the paint . Sorry we cant give you better answers.---Yogi
