Question:

What if the geckos breed inside my house?

We have had a cute gecko in our house this week, and he comes and goes as he pleases - he is very fast whenever we opened the door. Yesterday we realized that there are at least three different geckos - ha, ha! We were silly to think it was the same guy the whole time.

My husband and I really like them; he used to have an anole for a pet, and since cockroaches and ants are such huge pests here (we live in the Middle East) we are only happy to have these little guys eat them. They are very tiny, probably babies, since they are half the size of the ones we see outside (those are pretty small, too, compared to the ones on the internet).

BUT, we are going away for the summer next week, and I am wondering, if these geckos are in my house and they breed will we come to a gremlin-like situation in August? Should I shoo them outside (assuming I can find and catch them)?

  1. Hi, we live outside of Abu Dhabi, a lovely little house, with lovely little geckos too! I keep trying to rescue them from our cats, by popping them outside again, but somehow they find their way back in! I am quite sure that you will not come back to a Gremlin like situation, and I think that they have alreay done the breeding thing, we have babies everywhere at the moment! We live out in the desert and don't have too much of a problem with overflow....shame, as they are fascinating to watch!
