so what if thousands upon thousands of fighter planes from all over the world attack us at once. will the air force be able to thwart the massive attack before they reach US territory?

scenario:

1. only conventional bombs and missiles, no nukes involved on both sides.

2. Rest of the world determined to wipe out USA.

3. USA fighting for very existence.

4. foreign fighter planes targeting all vital installations including warships and food supplies

5.thousands of conventional missiles (non nukes) launched by nearby countries and russia and china to back up the air attack.

So, what will be our military options when this happens?

No nuke scenario.. tnx...

  1. From the looks of it we would be in trouble. You never know what the us might have up there sleeve!

  2. Yea, US would win easily. Most of those combat planes would be far inferior to what we have. The ones comparable would be in small number. The US is far and away the greatest aerial power in the world, no one bothers to dispute this fact. I am assuming by stating warships are valid areas of attack, that this would include all US anti-air systems as well? Well then, it is even more of a turkey shoot. This would be pretty much a mistake on the rest of the worlds part, as this would leave the rest of the world without modern airforces, with the US pumping them out at an amazing rate.

The missiles would be a problem, but nothing that couldn't be repaired.

  3. Hilarious question. None of the fighter planes you speak of have the RANGE to reach the USA. You really need to learn a bit about military weaponry before you spout off with such a bizarre scenario. And, the thousands and thousands of fighter planes don't even exist. Read Jane's All the World's Aircraft (available at your local library) to see how few combat aircraft really exist.

  4. Well, USA would easily win

    +Superior training

+superior tech--we already have over 100 F-22 Raptors, not to mention the others

and, the other guys are right--there are not "1000's of fighter planes" in the world," nor do the other countries have enough tankers and logistical support craft

also, if warships and ground installations are included, our Patriot Pac-3's could take down the missiles and the planes, as could our AEGIS Fleet Air-Defense Destroyers...each one can take on about 100-150 aircraft/missiles at a time...

    Turkeyshoot!

  5. We'd be screwed?

  6. Huge amounts of the world have no air force to speak of. I'm not trying to be all "American is invincible" but as far as long range aviation capabilities, most of our nemesis would be decades behind us.

  7. not like anything that dramatic would ever really happen.

we could probably fight back fairly well, with anti-missile technology and superior military technology, and the fact that most other countries don't have a significant air force at all, we probably stand a chance

  8. 1. They lack the tanker capacity to launch such an attack

    2. Be one h**l of a turkey shoot on our side

    3. If they were able to stage and launch from say Canada and Mexico, we would have to immediately launch a nuclear attack against all of them.  I doubt they have the cajones to face that.
