What if the serial plate is missing..how can you find the serial # for a 1999 150 Mercury EFI?

Look where the engine is mounted onto the back of the boat (transom assembly). If you look on either side of that (I think it's the port side) you'll usually see a build plate with the serial number (it's only about the size of your thumb), but check both sides anyway. If it isn't on either side and it's nowhere on the transom assembly, check your computers under the cowling..there might be a serial number for the engine on those, too.
