  1. No gravity and then we would be doomed

  2. Lunar gravity has already slowed Earth's rotation rate somewhat over geological time so at some point in the distant future an essentially "stopped" Earth may be a reality. In addition to great temperature extremes there would be fierce winds, as heated air rises on the day side while cooler air sinks on the night side, causing the lower night air to shriek in at lower altitudes.

  3. I suppose We'd all get flung off, like kids on a roundabout when a cruel adult brings it to a sudden stop.

  4. it wont we are kept spinning by the sun and we be long gone by then

  5. Simple answer: You die.

Complex answer: One side of the earth would always be facing the sun, while the other would never see the sun. So you would either burn up or freeze. Also we would loose our magnetic field, so either way you'd die.

  6. would it be a sudden stop or a slow stop?  things could just go  flying

  7. It would get really warm on the side facing the sun, and quite cold on the opposite side.  It would snow in places near the equator (on the dark side) which had never seen snow before.

  8. one side would be dark and the other the opposite

  9. Even though spinning stops, the earth will still be revolving around the sun and one day on earth will become one year and accordingly weather will change which is anybody's guess.

  10. It would both shatter and melt. Realistically, nothing could remove enough kinetic energy and angular momentum to stop it, fortunately.
