As an archaeologist I think it would be quite useful to have a prehensile tail. Imagine being able to hold a sieve and trowel through it at the same time! Other than that, if we had tails we would have to design clothes and furniture differently I suppose.

if we had one we could swim better...changing position faster...invent new sexual perversions...design special hats or gloves for it...having an extra space for tattoos...etc.

Years ago I read a story about a fictional space traveler who had a tail surgically attached to him by a race of aliens he was visiting. It was long and strong and had a grasping digit at the end. At first he was terrified but after a week he wondered how he ever got on with out it.

I think a prehensile tail would enhance our work, social life, s*x life and make a fashion statement.
