If you lose a job and can't afford a bankruptcy lawyer and you can't pay your bills and have to stop paying on things like credit cards what happens at that point? I mean, can creditors take you to court? I know this sounds stupid but can you go to jail? If the bank is foreclosing on your home and you sell everything you own except necessities and move to an apt can they come and take even those necessities from you?

  1. Onyx Ninja, I got into of financial trouble last year. I really wish I contacted a bankruptcy lawyer before I filed for bankruptcy. Now it will take me years to rebuild my credit. I recommend you find a lawyer to help you. http://www.bankruptcylawyersite.com

  2. If you can afford to get an apartment, you can afford a bankruptcy lawyer.

You can't go to jail but your creditors can sue you.  If they get judgments against you, they can seize your assets.  If the bank gets a judgment of foreclosure, it will take your house and evict you.  With bad credit, it's doubtful you will be able to rent an apartment since most landlords perform credit checks.

  3. You can go to www.cccs.org

They will help you make payment arrangements, and stop the bill collector calls.  They will prevent court action.  It is a non-profit, and they do not charge you for their service.

I hope they can help you, if you are faced with this challenge.  Good luck!
