  1. Well it matters, If you mean figure skating then absolutely not! Figure skaters have toe picks and roller blades dont, good luck with your skating.

  2. Quite the opposite. Ice skating is so much easier than roller-blading and it's also easier on the knee joints...something you really think about at my age

  3. You can certainly ice skate if you don't have any roller skating experience. I struggle with roller skating, but I am able to ice skate very well, I think that they are completely different skills and you can become good at either one with practice. Good luck!

  4. What a coincidence, i was going to ask a question about ice skating as I'm going tomorrow, for the third time in 3 years!

in my very limited experience, its about whether you are afraid to do it,.. It doesn't really matter, its like comparing  rowing to swimming, they both have something in common, but are definitely not the same!!

Ive roller bladed and you are more confident as you are usually wearing more protection- knee and elbow pads, but really the ice is just as hard as the ground is

You are going to fall when you go ice skating but it wont hurt too bad, you are going to get back up again and continue skating!

Honestly it depends on the person to whether its harder to roller skate or ice skate, but of course its gonna be hard if its your first time!!

  5. it really depends on you! i used 2 b really good at roller blading b4 i started figure skating and now i cant roller blade 2 save my live!!!!

  6. It is much easier to ice skate provided you have no phobia of the ice. Ice skates are easier to manuever, while rollerblades are bulky.

I used to think that my rollerblading intro helped me with my ice skating, however, once I got used to ice skating and went back to rollerblade in the summer I couldn't even control my balance. This is probably because that partly the rollerblades are much bulkier and also that the rollerblades themselves are different from iceblades. On ice blades you can turn on the ball of your feet and on the heel in different directions whereas on rollerblades you are only allowed to change the edge.

  7. i might be harder because the two are very similar. ice skating is much easier because u sorta glide on the ice. i reccomend holding on the side railing if its ur first time and gradually letting go.

  8. Well, it is probably harder to ice skate for the first time if you have never roller skated before.  However, it is harder to ice skate then to roller skate in my opinion.
