Question:

What if you swim when your pool is being shocked?

The other day, my kids and I were invited to an above ground pool. The water was really cloudy blue, but they said it was safe to swim, cause they were shocking it.

We swam for a few hours in it. I noticed it tasted bad.

We didn't get any skin rashes, or irritation, but now I'm wondering if that was BAD to do, and if we'll be sorry later!!

I know, I'll never do it again!

  1. Not the best idea to swim when the water is full of harsh chemicals, but it won't kill you. You are liable to get irritated skin, eyes, and throat, however.

  2. High chlorine levels in a swimming pool can cause rash and burning eyes. It will also bleach your bathing suits and towels. No damage will occur unless a LARGE quantity of the superchlorinated liquid is consumed (gallons). I'm sure you will be fine but it is best to avoid swimming in a shocked pool.

  3. don't do it again the pool is bad they need to use chlorine shocking it can cause long term damage
