  1. other guy is right, but seems to be referring more to literature. an artist's period style impressionism, modernism...the mode of the day;

    personal style would be broad strokes, pointilism, etc.;

    if s/he belonged to a certain group within that period as did most artists;

    the influence of culture on style - carribean art, dutch masters, etc.;

    different regions of america have different styles during the same period - folk vs. traditional vs. western, etc.

    Personal style is, of, course, the "look" that an individual comes up with. Greta Garbo was credited with pioneering the style of women wearing pants.

    Group style can include anything from clothing to possessions to behavior shared by the members of a group as a means of establishing and maintaining a group identity.

    Cultural and regional style: Similar to above, but on a larger scale. Generally influenced by climate and geography.
