  1. There's not much they can can do. The demand for oil worldwide is too great that drilling won't help that much in the short term. I guess if enough people take mass transit, gas prices will come down a little.

  2. That is not the function or responsibility of Congress.

And much like EVERYTHING else Congress does, they would end up making matters worse.

The best thing government could do would be to stop doing more and start doing less, get out of the way.

  3. Congress needs to get out of the way.  Drill here.  Drill now.  Save money.

  4. The oil companies are sitting on millions of dollars worth of land leases -- so if drilling was the answer they could have started by now.  Even Bush said that opening up environmentally sensitive lands would not affect prices for years.

The reason gas prices are so high is that speculators are hoarding. End that and you will lower the price.  In the mean time, end the corporate welfare that gas companies are enjoying, while at the same time making record profits, and use the money to reduce gasoline taxes or fund alternative fuels.

  5. the best thing Congress can do is step back and let the market work it out

  6. Impeach Bush, stop the bs war, and use the US oil(which there is plenty of)

  7. Double taxes on everything except triple on fuel.  Don't allow any new sources of domestic oil.  That should do it.
