  1. His biggest is the "Breakthrough" concept, which is an elaboration to the continuous improvement movement where there is never a "good enough" where you achieve a level of competence and remain at that level and merely exploit your performance.

      Juran says you need to force your production systems to improve to the point where they can not improve by doing thing incrementally better than they did in the past.  The "Break" in the break through is that for real improvement your organization must make a radical reconsideration of its activities and fundamentally restructure for real improvement. This is what the idea behind "stretch goals" is. It's also the original theory behind the now emptyheaded suggestion by managers to "work smarter, not harder", although most don't have a clue the mismatch between what they are saying and how they facilitate this idea.
