What in a peat bog can form rust?

well theres no oxygen in peat bogs and you need oxygen for rust to form, so why does iron in peat bogs rust??

  1. Peat bogs are pretty stagnant and quickly become oxygen starved, deep under the water.  This does not mean that there is no oxygen in peat bogs.  I'm not a rust expert, but there could very well be enough oxygen in a peat bog to rust iron, especially if the iron is not fully submerged in water.


  2. uhm.....hate to shock you but there is plenty of oxygen in peat bogs!! peat produces oxygen by converting carbon dioxide! where you get your information from a comic book?
