My two sons and their male cousin are getting burning and blisters after being in a certian pool. This doesn't happen in any other pool. Any ideas on what this could be and how to treat it?

  1. it could be the chlorine, or other chemicals in the pool, is anyone else having the "blisters"? I would be afraid of letting them swim in this, and I would definitely mention this to the pools owner.

  2. I don't know but you need to tell the people who manage that pool and get the water checked.  It will most likely need to be drained and they need to check to make sure that the water is being effectively chlorinated.

  3. Maybe the suction on the vacuum hose is too strong?

  4. Drain the pool water and start again?

  5. coxsackie virus (hand, foot, and mouth disease) can be found in pools and does cause blistering.  It is not always able to be killed by chlorine and often causes small red blisters which resolve without incident in 2-5 days.  It is usually accompanied by a fever however and found on palms and foot soles. the following for more info:http://www.healthatoz.com/healthatoz/Ato...

Another possibility is that the PH balance in the pool itself is off and the chemicals are causing a reaction in that particular area.  In any case.  I would restrict use of the pool and contact a dermatologist to examine the blisters as it could be more serious than it appears.

  6. As a person who used to work as an anesthesia technician for 18 years, and then went into selling pools.  It sounds like the chemicals are out of balance.  You need to drain the pool, refill it, and then put chemicals in the water.  Use test strips to make sure you get the chemical balance correct.  If you dont have test strips do not waste your time trying to fill the pool.
