  1. Neptune.

Neptune, when used in a positive way, influences dreams, fantasies, creativity and spirituality... but used in a less than ideal way, drugs, alcohol & lies are the outcome.

Right off the bat, I see his Sun is conjunct Neptune and Saturn... (I consider Uranus a little out of orb.) Sun/Neptune could turn anybody into a "space cadet" but this is a Capricorn we're talking about, and the last thing a Capricorn wants is to be a "space cadet." The planet that might help give him some kind of structure (Saturn) is also conjunct Neptune, so even though it is in its rulership, it has a hard time making solid concrete structures. Neptune kind of dissolves solid physical things.

And even though the orb is wide for Uranus & the Sun, it still conjuncts Saturn, so once again Saturn is under attack, this time from the planet of chaos and sudden change.

Ideally, as he matures, he may find a way to shift his Neptunian drug use into a Neptunian spirituality. He will always be an offbeat unusual character, and I imagine one of the reasons he was drawn to drugs is he has trouble operating in the "real," physical world... and drugs are a way to self-medicate. His Capricorn wants to be practical and "real" but he will have to invent a new way to be real that makes sense for him.

His Mercury in Cap trines his Jupiter in Taurus. Merury in Capricorn actually gives him a good solid mind, and the Jupiter trine is a good assist to it. One possible solution, maybe, is to use all that Neptune/Uranus energy as a creative source and write, using his Capricorn Mercury.

Venus and Mars are trine, so he has a pretty good ability to relate to other people.

He is not by any means a lost cause, but without a more exact chart, there isn't too much more I can say. The rising sign and house positions might help me look a little deeper into it. One thing for certain: any movement into a spiritual direction might help... meditation... yoga... etc...

You call him an addict. Do you mean he is physically addicted to a particular drug (ie, he is a junkie), or does he just do a variety of drugs & alcohol all the time?

I wish you the best in your dealings with him.

  2. I have a feeling that knowing the house placements in your friend's brother's chart would help a good deal here. But since birth time is unknown, there are a few things that I can pick out from what you've got here.

You've got a chain of conjunctions in Capricorn: Uranus conj. Saturn, conj. Neptune, conj. Sun. Neptune is one of the culprits here in conjunction to all of those other planets, either directly, or in a sort of "guilt by association" conjunction through another planet (in the case of Uranus for example, Neptune is not actually in aspect, however, since Saturn, which is basically at the midpoint between the two conjuncts them both, and the Sun conjuncts them all, this kind of brings them into aspect with each other). The other factor at work here is the Pisces north node. I think that the Moon/Mars opposition could also be an aggravating factor here.

Basically, I think your friend's brother has some anger issues due to his relationship with his mother. I think it's possible that he felt he should have had more of her attention, or maybe that your friend or another sibling was the favoured child. I do not say this to find fault in anyone, please understand that. I also believe that he felt shouldered with a fair bit of responsibility and restriction at an early age. I think he felt stifled in his self expression, and I believe that the drug use started out as a rebellion against that restriction. Neptune conjunct Sun and Pisces north node would indicate that your friend's brother is on a very spiritual path this lifetime, however Pisces and Neptune also both rule addictive substances, and that's the path which he's on now. He just made a false turn, that's all.

*Important to note* Your friend's brother will alter his behaviour for better or worse over the next 5-7 years I'd say, give or take a year. A good time to start taking postive action is actually right now, while Saturn is trining his natal Saturn, and giving him a boost of self discipline. Be that as it may, Pluto has for the moment retrograded back into Sagittarius, but will be moving direct again mid-November and back into Capricorn, where it will come into conjunction with Uranus, Saturn, Neptune, and the Sun...(and later on Mercury, but that's not really relevant here). I think there may be some shocking wake up calls for him, and either he himself or someone else is going to have to put their foot down and make him take care of his problem, but after that, he should be able to move forward in a more positive direction. Pluto rules transformation, breaking away of the old and unneccessary, and emergence of the new. It helps us to rid ourselves of old habits which are no longer useful to us, and progress further on our paths towards evolution in this lifetime. With Pluto transiting all of those planets in his chart, he doesn't have any choice but to change, Pluto doesn't take no for an answer.

Best of luck to you all.

  3. When Saturn is close to Sun, it drawn energy from the person, resulting in loss of weight. Uranus symbolize change and since it close to Sun, it would suggest that the person felt a strong urge to be rebellion and opposing the rules applied to him.

    Aspects used in my analysis:

    Sun Conjunction Saturn

    Sun Conjunction Uranus

Capricorn happens to be in all these planet if you observed. For Capricorn, life would be difficult and full of obstacles. However, God is fair, it give them a strong-will and a hard-working attitude, so they don't give up that easily. His drug addiction could be his way of escaping from reality and he is still figuring why life is so not smooth and easy like the others.

Learning from lesson and keep and optimistic mind is very important for the pessimistic Capricorn.
