why does leaves die when you put vaseline on them

  1. They can't breathe anymore


  2. The vaseline covers the stomata of the leaves which prevents the plant from taking in carbon dioxide which halts its ability to make energy, and more importantly stops it from letting out water vapor. Once the flow of water out of the leaves stops, the plant is no longer able to take up new water through its roots, and therefore dies.

  3. It suffocates them. They need to breathe. They need air.
