What in the world is google thinking.... lol story?

Im a new student in 8th grade. we had computer class today and this story is prettttty funny. we were sittin there and the teacher said "ok class go to google" so everyone went to google and instead i went to http://www.gooooooogle.com/ this website is the exact thing as google but i dont get it... why 7 o's ? lol and the teacher said NEW KID,.... what the heck are u on... and i said... gooooooooooooooooogleeeee.. lol... can anyone like uhm explain what the heck is google trying to accomplish with this website or what you thing about it ?? shanks

Yup. It's not expensive to do that and the official name for those domains are "parked domains" - something that has the same content as google.com but under a different domain name (or website address).

google bought all the names close to its name or that could be typo's so it would be easier to get to them,  and so others couldnt spoof (copy) their site. gogle does the same thing.
