What ( in your opinion ) makes Heath Ledger's performance in " The Dark Knight " so great?

Come on people, I think that his death does not have that huge of a role in the hype of his performance. I mean just watch the trailers! he is SO in the character, his laugh, the way he moves, talks, he just seems like a mad man.

And also, before ledger died, the marketing campaign for the movie was ALL about the joker, look at the movie posters, the original ones were of just the joker. Then when he died, the studio said there shifting there marketing away from him. The hype around him would be just as big if he were still alive.

Well, Heath has spent exactly one month to prepare for this film, he has tried to become the actual Joker by reading psychological books. Watched the original Batman over and over again. Then he wanted to develop a new type of laugh, a laugh that was never heard by anyone, not even old Jackie could've produced. Then he started writing his 'Joker' diary to get his mind, personality, and behavior to become like th Joker.  And no one could disagree with this, the new Joker looks waaay  better than the old Joker.

Yes, I think 'The Dark Knight' will live up to the hype, becaue you know why? Heath Ledger and Christopher Nolan actually worked together to get all the actors to the right path.

Because he's dead now. If he was still alive they'd be ripping him apart like they have every other Batman since the original motion picture. It's a bunch of hype.

I think Heath gets allot of credit because it was his last performance, but at the same time from the clips that were available he seems to take on the role very well. Check out http://newbatmanmovie.net/ you will see in the trailers what im talking about. An Oscar is most often considered when an actor steps out of his norm and that is certainly something that heath has done for the part of Joker.

I think it will live up to the hype and disappoint fans. Its Batman man, nothing is as good as we remember those cartoons from childhood, but bet the seats sell out.
