What in your own words is child abuse/neglect??

what are the effects of child abuse long term short term?????????

this is just straght out there this is for a social studys assignment on abused and neglected children any help would be appriciated. thankyou.

I'm a 49 year old woman and was physically and emotionally abused by my father. I guess you could say by my mother also because she did nothing to stop it.

There is no short term effect.

You suffer from low self esteem, you end up in relationships like your abuser because it's all you know.

Unless you get help early on in life you could become an abuser yourself.

You have a difficult time having a healthy relationship.

You never feel like your good enough , smart enough, pretty enough.

You end up having a hard time trusting people.

You have abandonment issues.

I could go on but I'll stop. I think it also varies on the type of abuse and on the individual themselves.

Getting therapy certainly helps in the long run, but there will always be scars that won't go away.

Every child has a different mind so they deal with problems/abuse different from some other children. After being abused, children can feel worthless, dirty, confused. They can become depressed which can result in Suicide. Some children become violent after being abused or they isolate themselves from a lot of people. Being abused can also make them be abusive in the future and they see it as revenge for what happened to him/her.

abuse and neglect is where a child is pushed away from parents, abuse by hitting the children. long term can lead to sucidual thoughts and attempts and depression. short term depression and felt left out

from experience (my friend was/is abused and shes 16 now. by her stepmother)

image issues (thinking youre ugly, fat, etc)

depression

lack of confidence

phsyical things (bruises, swelling, etc)

crying

thinking youre not good enough for anyone-friends family, bf

feeling alone

thinking its all your fault, and youre a bad kid

EDIT: on my news, a girl just got raped and beaten. shes blind from it and in a coma cuz she was beaten so bad. so those are side effects

other ppl are much worse than my friends. some ppl get deaf (ive seen that on tv, blind, coma, death, faces ripped off, burned, cut, brain damage, etc)
