  1. The price of oil is tracked by an ETF traded under the symbol "USO".  

    I doubt any fund families have an index directly tracking oil because oil is traded in futures.

    Most related funds follow the oil and gas industry sector, holdings shares of those companies...

    Vanguard has:

    an Energy etf (VDE),

    the Vanguard Energy Fund Investor Shares (VGENX)
