  1. ?

  2. yeah my parents were the same way im the oly horsey person in my family, but for some reason she thought that i HAD to take lessons so she forced me to take lessons lol and of coures i lOVED THEM! but then once i got a horse i HAD to STOP taking lessons because now that i had a horse for some reason she thought lessons were a waste of time

i loved taking lessons and being in group lessons with my freinds there is always something you can learn

so what i did was i explained to my mom that my horse and i BOTH needed training so she sent us BOTH to lessons lol but that was only because my horse was green when i bought him and not well trained if your horse is dead broke then i guess you just have to do what your parents say! but at least try asking your mom for lessons on YOUR horse now so then your horse will get trained and riding time with you and that when your home riding you have something to practice with your horse because of what you learned at lesons

  3. you deff should continue taking lessons! if your mum feels you might have learned everything that instructor can teach you, maybe consider moving barns to a more qualified trainer (i did this early on after buying my horse)

and you don't need to know everything about a horse/riding to get a horse, you should know the basics but the whole wonder about getting your first horse is how much he/she will teach you. i had only been riding one year when i bought my horse and i have learned SO much. the people that are around you will always be willing to help

if you can't afford taking lessons or something, then maybe ask your trainer if there is some work around the barn that needs to be done in place of a lesson now and then (this might please your mum too even if money isn't an issue!!!!)

  4. Keep taking lessons theres ALWAYS more you can learn.

Even all the pro riders still have more to learn

  5. Continue taking lessons-even if you get your own horse. There's not limit to what you can learn, and lessons from an instructor will help you greatly.

  6. Lessons and trainers are your friends. Love and apperciate them. Once you get a horse you will need them even more because you not only have your position and riding to worry about but your horses training as well.

  7. I think if you feel you still need lessons, then keep taking lessons. Theres always more your going to need to know.

    Good luck

  8. Just about anyone would benefit in some way from a lesson now and again, so why not try to persuade her that you could have one maybe once a month just as a refresher.

  9. Keep taking lessons. There is no such thing as too much knowledge especially when it comes to riding. Even upper level riders have trainers. I have a trainer and will keep her no matter how good I get.

  10. You don't sound like you're ready for a horse if "there's still a lot of things about horses I don't know". Horses are a big responsibility and cost a lot of money. I think you should take lessons AND hack a bit. Even if you do get a horse to learn with, keep lessoning. I jump 4 feet and have been riding since I was a little kid, but I still have my trainer
