Question:

What infection can you get from public swimming pools like YMCA?

i wonna know if there is something I should be worried about while learning to swim at YMCA swimming pool. I know its a public swimming pool and many people go in there and elderly people. I dont have another option so please advise me of anything that i should be careful of e.g. STD's, yeast infection, bacterial and skininfection....

  1. With the chemicals, mostly chlorine, nothing you are afraid of should be an issue at the YMCA. Also, I agree, shower with soap and dry off in the lockerroom after swimming.


  2. just curious .. you do know an STD is a SEXUALLY Transmitted Disease.. Emphasis on the SEXUALLY... as long as they keep the chemicals at the right level you shouldnt have any problems at all. I swim in Public Pools all the time. and I've never had any Infections.

  3. well im a swimmer and i gotta say that sometimes ive gotten skin infection beacuse of the water of the pool. but also have in mind that if after the swim you dont dry yourself 100% going home wet or humid will provoke you some sort of fungus down there cuz of the fabric of the speedo. i used to be ashamed of changing in the locker room but since i got that sh*t i dont care if anyone sees my lil friend and go home as dry as the desert. lol. no problemas since.
