I mean probably many people don't know much about China. So what influence did Olympics have over your opinion or feeling about China?

Do you like it more or hate it more? Do you know something you don't know about China after watching Olympics? Does it make you more interested in this country and maybe will visit it someday? Or do you feel disgusted about this country because of the fake stuff they did in the olympics opening?

I don't want to hear meaningless attack or flattery about China. Please be specific and reasonable.

  1. Just for clarification... China did not send underage gymnists (proven by passports and birth certificates). They won the competition because they're actually very good. The US team made many of our own mistakes. We should accept defeat instead of trying to make excuses. China did lyp synch on the opening ceremony but it's a public knowledge, not Villi Vanilli type or whatever the name was. At the closing ceremony, the two girls sang together. No lyp synching.

My opinion of China is that it's an emerging Super Power. The amazing part's that China is the only country who dodged the Asia Monetary Crisis because of its massive money reserve. It does not flaunt its richness but really, it's a rich country and a rich government.

People are nice, foods are great, products are cheap, places are getting beautiful and developed. Many many interesting things to visit in China.. including the Great Wall.. and all of these vast kingdoms.. I also believe that China is too strict.. and sometimes can be aggressive if poked. But they, 4 billions of people? Someone gotta get the rules or else.. the country will fall to pieces when there's no filters to distinguish which one is acceptable or not. Chinese people are smart in math. hardworking people. But some of the lowly ones who struggled for a living may resort to p****y and even trickery. Many pirated CDs and DVDs abound in the country... Don't believe too easily if your money is at stake.. but overall.... order has been maintained... poverty has been reduced... a new world in China..

    Anyway... those what I think.

  2. lol, a couple answers here are meaningless attacks.  a girl working in a factory has the freedom of smiling occationally, doesn't she?

  3. Overall, my general impression didn't change.  Like the previous poster said, all countries have their good and their bad.  I would like to visit and I was happy to see China opened up to the world.  On the other side, I find the scandals involving the little girl lip syncing during the opening ceremonies and the female gymnasts to be disappointing.

  4. Well the Olympics in general taught me a lot about their culture.. I'm not sure if its good or bad but what astounded me was how the chinese can choose something to be successful at (in this case sports) act quickly to achieve what they want.  Success in general seems highly prized in China..

Oh and look at the stadiums.. I've never seen such awesome building (those i do love!!) I would like to swim in that pool !!

I'm not attacking them :( they pulled off one of the best Olympics ever and they show a huge strength of charcter by doing so well so quickly..

better? lol. nothing there was a source of opinion :P its true.. i left the jist of it :).

  5. Wrong place to ask such a question. Not when its full of xenophobic racist Americans...

  6. My view about China has stayed the same. A little good here, a little bad there. Like any other country.
