What information are companies allowed to state when called for a reference of a past employee?

  1. I know that you are allowed to tell the start and end dates, start and ending job titles, and start and ending salaries.

    Beyond that, the law may allow you to say more, but your labor lawyers won't let you say anything more for fear of being sued.
