  1. Epilepsy.com has some printable hand-outs in its library section. The handout I saw mainly deals with generalized tonic-clonics (aka "grand mals"). There is also a school nurse guide in the library section, too. It's good for general information.

If there is a particular student with a seizure disorder, it's important to know that student's particular symptoms and diagnosis. We all don't shake the same (some of us don't shake!) and there are about 40 different types of epilepsy! Epilepsy.com has information about complex partial seizures, simple partial seizures, as well as absence seizures. They have an easily printable short information page on each type of seizure.

  2. My son's friend suddenly started having seizures at about age 11 yrs.The kids just made sure that he was in a safe area with a pillow under his head until the seizure passed, then he had to sleep for a while. My job was to call his mom to come and take him home. The seizure made him sleepy. You should talk to his parents for the proper way to handle his individual case because it is my understanding that sometimes the patient can swallow their tongue. Each case is different.

  3. Learn how to manage the person while they are having the seizure.

Keep them on their side is one thing I remember.

Make sure there is nothing around they could hurt themselves on while  having the seizure.   You probably can find out on some websites.

    Good Luck.
