Question:

What information should I know when attending a sorority?

I now know which Divine 9 sorority I want to pledge, but I was wondering if there was any specfic information that I should know for the rush/interview? I have read up on the history, but I am not sure if I should get deeper into the information. I know half of the founders names and where they are from and I am currently trying to learn the rest. However I was wondering if there was any other information I should know about them.

I completely understand if you guys aren't allowed to tell me anything, I was just wondering because I really want to be prepared, because I really want to be apart of the Memeber Intake Process this year.

I would like answers from Divine Nine Sororities and Frats, however if you know anything I would greatly appreciate it, also if you have any tips for me I would also appreciate.

One last thing, please and I stress please no comments such as "Do not pay money to have friends" or "Why join a sorority, all they do is try to make others feel left out"even though I am not greek, I still get offended by it because I feel that being apart of a greek organization is way more than that.

Thanks in advance to anyone who replies with information.

  1. I am not familiar with this sorority. Is it a college sorority?

I am not a member of a sorority myself. But, I did attend a few rush parties when I was a freshmen many years ago.

There are some "things" you may want to ask-

    1. What fees are involved? I was surprised to learn about all the fees- Rush fees, Pledge Fees, Active Fees, Sorority pins, etc. Some sororities require that members stay at least one year or term in the sorority house.

    2.  What is required of pledges? Will you be required to do certain chores in the house?  Are you required to attend regular meetings? What kind of charity work is involved?

    3. If you are attending a college or university, will you be able to get your school work done as well as complete the requirements for the sorority.

Sororities have good points and bad points. I think the networking part of the sororities is great. You meet all kinds of people and get involved in many wonderful events- at the college I attended, the Sororities and Fraternities did a lot of charity work and had fun doing it. This will look good on your resume when you graduate.

    I hope my questions helped.

    Good luck.
