What ingredients should a vegan look out for?

I'm very happy i have decided to do this.

and i was wondering someone could give me a list of the ingredients i should watch out for.

  1. here is a list of what i know...

    ~milk

    ~eggs

    ~gelatin (some have cow stuff or pig..u know)

    ~marshmallow...(cow ingrediants)

    ~meat..duh!!

    ~butter

    ill write more...once i know more...


  2. Gelatine- boiled cow bones

    Rennet- baby calf stomach lining

    casein- a milk ingredient

    there is also a lot of different animal fats in some things, so esentially READ EVERYTHING. Those are some people didn't already mention.

  3. anything with dairy obviously and of course gelatin since its made from animals soo that excludes some candies and jello

    "may contain traces of meat"... hehe jokes..sorry i dont know..

    You can always have those fake meat sausages and stuff...

There's lots of really long lists you can find online if you want, but some of the most common ingredients are gelatin, rennet, milk, lactose (lactic acid is OK), eggs, egg whites, whey, casein, honey, confectioner's glaze, shellac, lanolin, beeswax, vitamin D3 (Vitamin D2 is OK, if it just says vitamin D, you should check with the company to see which one it is), and obviously anything involving meat (a lot of soups have a meat-based broth, so make sure to read the ingredients, even if it's a vegetable soup)

  6. Well i'm not a vegan but i knew some1 who was and she loved mashed potatoes with gravy which she thought was completely a yummy vegan dish but it turns out that the gravy had like turkey or beef liquid in it so if u use gravy make sure it's completely vegan!

  7. Just keep watching for animal ingredients.

    You should also keep watching you B12, get a Dr to check it.
