What initiates the onset of puberty?

i have to do a health assignment on puberty and this is one of the questions.....i think my teacher said something like the hormone or something like messages from brain and stuff.......lol

It is caused by activation of the pituitary gland in your brain that signals s*x organs to come out of their dorment state and begin function; secreting hormones (estrogen, progesteron in women and testosterone in men), etc.
