What insect bit me? Never seen it before and haven't found it on the internet?

Question

Yesterday i got bit by an insect while i was at the beach.Its a beach near the Black Sea and its not arranged for tourists . It was a big fly like insect about 1 inch (2-3 cm) in length an with transparent wings.Mostly gray and i think i also saw some black.

It went right for my leg and it bit me as soon as it got on me.It felt like i was being bit not stung .It didn't get scared while i was trying to get it away and i actually had to hit it to make it go away.

The thing that is strange is that after it went a way blood started coming out from where it bit, i think about 3 drops of blood.No swelling or itching , just a bruise.After i hit it was trying to bite me again and had to through sand at it...after 5 min it came again to my other leg and tried to bit me again..

Any idea? gray with black i think, transparent wings, 1 inch in length,big,aggressive, between vegetation and sea (dead seaweed around), looks like a fly, strong bite

The only thing I can think of is a dragon-fly. They DO bite although usually its other insects. The thing is you should be able to recognise a dragon-fly quite easily because of the way its wings function-sort of like a helicopter. Thats the only insect I can think of that big and which did not cause any sort of reaction to your body.

what bit you is a fly,of the species I can't remember.

these flies are very persistent,agressive,and their bite stings a bit.

they are related to the 'horsefly'.
