I am having a problem, my tomatoes are getting lines on them , then when there almost ready they break open where the line was and are no good by that point, i have tried soapy water, as i like to grow organic, maybe tobacco water, but i think that will cause mosaic virus

  1. I have had the same problem this year, but I don't think it's from insects. My mother in law said it's because the temperatures where so hot that it pretty much zapped all the tomatoes this year. I will be curious to see what other answers you get on this one.

  2. That is not an insect problem. the tomatoes split when watered unevenly like when it has been dry for 7 to 10 days and you get rain. the solution is to pick them before they are fully ripe-pick when you see them start to blush and they will not split on you.

Early picking does not effect flavor
