What insulation would I use in my attic that has k**b & tube wiring present?

Will any insulation cause a fire hazard? I have to do something...my gas bills are treacherous!

  1. Roxul.....Heat resistant...water resistant..little more pricey...but best choce


  2. IT IS UNSAFE AND A CODE VIOLATION TO PUT INSULATION OVER k**b AND TUBE.....IT WAS NOT DESIGN FOR IT IT WILL OVER HEAT

  3. You need to up grade your wiring first. k**b and tube wiring is well outdated. Most professional insulation contractors will not install install any thing over k**b and tube because it can be a fire hazard. Even if you found a suitable insulation type you will be making future electrical upgrading more difficult.

  4. k**b and tube, although antiquated, is very safe. You can use blown in insulation.

  5. Blown-in whatever has the highest R-Value.

    Take and print out some pictures before you insulate, or mark the route of the wiring on the underside of the roof so you can find it later.

    The k**b and tube is safe, just don't overload the circuits.
