  1. Your E111 form will cover your medical needs for 3 months but make sure you register with a GP when you get there, otherwise you will always have to go to A + E to get treated.

If you are going to sign a Spanish contract, you should also be issued with a social security number that also gives you access to the health service.

If you refer to insurance to cover other (non-medical) issues, you are probably wasting your time because it will probably be rather costly.

  2. Your getting good advice above but also remember that any household insurance that you might hold in England may become invalid unless your house is subjected to certain conditions, eg: must not be left unoccupied etc.

  3. if you live in the U.K.get yourself a European health insurance card(0845 24 24 24)this will get you the same health care as you would recieve at home, there is no charge for this service.

  4. You do not need any.

But you do need an NHS card for free medical care.

Just remember that the E111 has been replaced a long time ago by the European Health Insurance card.

My little card says that you can get health related travel advice on www.dh.gov.uk/travellers or phone 44 (0) 20 7210 4850

    Also try www.nhs.uk.
