What intensity do you need to set an exercise bike at to acheive the same calorie burn as a "fat burner" setting on a treadmill?

  1. You need to elevate your heartbeat to a certain level for a certain amount of time.  This is called your 'target heartbeat'.  The level depends on your age and weight and general condition.  You can find charts for this.  Here's one:

    So set the bike at a low intensity, pedal for ten minutes or so and then check your heartbeat.  If you aren't getting it high enough, increase the tension.  They even sell heartbeat monitors that you can watch while you work out.


  2. Your legs should be burning, but you should be able to peddle fast. Your heart rate should be up, and you need to sweat. These are all signs that you are burning fat, and go for atleast a half hour.
