  6. you should be able to communicate with people of all ages, i.e - the children and their parents, colleagues and any other proffesionals you come into contact with for example - social workers, speech therapists etc.

    so excellent communication skills are essential.

    Early years workers should also be able to see where they need to improve in their skills and see where they are going wrong, acknowledge this and turn it around.

  7. The ability to communicate with staff,colleagues,parents,carers, and children using positive body language and language appropriate to the persons you are speaking to.

    Body language and facial expressions must show you are willing to listen and are open to responses.

    Self esteem can be promoted with praise, thumbs up, clapping hands, winking,starcharts, stickers. Always share the reasons for the praise with other adults at the setting to allow self esteem to be further promoted.
